These Policies Could Change a Young Mom's Life

It’s hard to be a parent, no matter how old you are. But young parents in particular, simply because of their age, often face added barriers to getting the respect, resources, and recognition they need. Join us to call on Congress to ensure that all families can thrive.

Young parents, like all parents, need fair employment, educational opportunities, healthcare, housing, and childcare in order to be successful. Unfortunately, pregnant and parenting youth face discrimination at work, stigma at school, and barriers to accessing healthcare, and often struggle with homelessness or lack of affordable childcare. In the workplace, pregnant and parenting youth are overrepresented in low wage jobs where they may be more likely to experience pregnancy discrimination. Finally, pregnant and parenting youth struggle to secure childcare and housing for their families, making it harder for them to pursue their educational and career goals.

The Young Parents' Dignity Agenda includes a commitment to five key issues, including: fair employment, education and opportunity, healthcare, affordable housing, and access to childcare and educational programs for kids.

Join us to call on Congress to support the Young Parents' Dignity Agenda, a commitment to federal legislation and policies that ensure that pregnant and parenting youth can continue building a successful foundation for their families.
