NO to widening 380! YES to 380 Prosper Bypass! Specifically WEST of Custer

Surrounding towns Prosper and Frisco are in support of widening 380 which if extended through McKinney would destroy a huge part of Tucker Hill as well as Wren Creek, Meadow Ranch Estates, Ridgecrest, Buckner Place, and many nearby businesses. While not all of these areas are in the Northridge District, Tucker Hill supports the City of McKinney in their efforts to protect these areas. However, the bypass must also protect McKinney's main assets to the Northridge District, Tucker Hill and the well established Wren Creek in Stonebridge Ranch. This is why we are in favor of the bypass starting WEST of Custer and utilizing as much open, undeveloped space as possible to provide the thoroughfare. (See Petition Letter Below):

There are two issues at hand that are important to Tucker Hill, both with potential detrimental effects. The first being the expansion of Highway 380. The undersigned residents of Tucker Hill, surrounding neighborhoods, and businesses are opposed to this expansion and therefore in favor of an alternative bypass.

The expansion of 380 would displace a significant number of homeowners and renters, devalue entire subdivisions, and close businesses. This would not only be detrimental to the homeowners affected, but would also adversely affect the city's economy as businesses are forced to close and the employees of those businesses are left unemployed. In addition, the expansion of 380 would also cause noise pollution, air pollution, and health and safety concerns. While we understand something must be done, the expansion of 380 does not represent the values set forth in the city of McKinney's vision.

The second issue important to Tucker Hill is the alternative bypass route. While the residents of Tucker Hill are in favor of a bypass, we could potentially be impacted if the bypass borders our neighborhood. Tucker Hill is a defining neighborhood that is vital to McKinney's depiction, "Unique by Nature." Tucker Hill is considered a significant asset to the city's Northridge district. We purposefully sponsor many community-wide events that are open to the public, drawing in many new potential residents. Bordering Tucker Hill with a bypass when undeveloped space is available would not be in McKinney's or Tucker Hill's best interest. All of the above mentioned adverse effects of widening 380 would still apply to Tucker Hill if the bypass surrounds our neighborhood. We strongly support the entrance beginning WEST of Stonebridge, using Laud Howell to connect, and shifting the bypass back to it's original line (not bordering Tucker Hill) and disrupting as few residents as possible.

We are imploring the city to seek alternatives to displacing homeowners and businesses, and to not consider the path of least resistance alone, but rather the path that aligns best with the majority of residents and McKinney's vision for the future.
