We are requesting faster express train service to the Rockaways. Currently, it takes about 1 hr, 15 min. to travel between Manhattan and the Rockaways.
We, the undersigned, desperately, need a 'Super' Express A train which travels express from the Rockaways to Jay Street, then on to Manhattan. The Rockaways are approximately 16 miles from Manhattan, yet it takes over an hour for travel on the subway, compared to Jamaica which is approx. 12 miles from Manhattan and takes only 30 minutes. The 'express' A train, which only provides service to the Rockaway Beach area during peak hours, makes all of the same stops as the local, just adding stops for Rockaway Beach. There is currently an influx of new homebuyers in the community, as a result of recent mass development, many of whom work in Manhattan. The ridership to and from the Rockaways will only increase in the coming year and we need better subway service to this community. Thank you for your consideration.
