We, the Undersigned, endorse the following petition:

Stop Breed Specific Banning

Target: Rosemary Aultman, Mayor, City of Clinton
Sponsor: Jesse Sturgill, http://www.savebrick.org
  • Signatures: 2,055
  • Goal: 1,000
  • Deadline: 7-25-2008
This petition is to stop Breed Specific Banning in the city of Clinton, MS.
Recently the mayor and alderman applied a new amendment to the animal ordinance banning specific breeds of dogs. I feel that this is unconstitutional and we as voting people should have the right to own any breed of dog if we are responsible owners.

2,053 1:53 pm PDT, Aug 23 Ms. Laura Thomas Cushing I think it is morally wrong to ban specific breeds. I believe that it is the person who trained the dog to fight is the guilty one. These poor animals are forced to fight, and yet people point the finger at them, not believing that any human could train a dog to be a monster...
2,052 1:25 pm PDT, Jul 21 Ms. amanda lovett orangeville Clearly it's not the animals fault its the people who were put incharge of that animal.. instead of banning breeds of dogs .. this fact should be considered put people to justice for these acts done unto animals ....there helpless animals the need people to love and take care of them .. and what is happeneing your turning you back on them ... i think these inconsiderate people need is realize its "the people" not the animals put them to justice like come on there innocent creatures here before us and this is what we do to them how can people sleep and night

2,015 7:31 am PDT, Jun 20 Mrs. Tina Pitre North Platte
2,014 5:08 pm PDT, Jun 19   Anonymous North Platte No !!! I have owned 7 Rottweilers. None have ever bitten any one. I had one that had to be muzzled to go to the vet but he had a bad experience at the vet as puppy. So we all knew that and would be cautious. I have been bitten by all small dogs never a big dog. I have been around German Shepherds, Pit Bulls, Akitas and Rottweilers. All well behaved dogs due to good owners. I think education is needed. Educate owners ! Like my dogs live with me from puppy to the day they pass. You can not complain unless you train. I have a young male now that is stubborn and drives me nuts. I work with him everyday. He is learning the rules. So I say educate owners on how to handle dogs first. Make it mandatory. All my family and friends have small children. My dogs are awesome around children. But the children know if my dogs go and lay down. They are done playing. And no child goes out to play with the dogs without ADULT SUPERVISION. Either myself or husband go out with them. That is being a good responsible owner with any breed.
2,013 1:08 pm PDT, Jun 19   Sarah Hooyer Anchorage BSL is addressing the dog problem in the wrong way. Dog problems are generally problems with owner responsibility and are not limited to breeds. When breeds are singled out as dangerous or vicious, responsibility is removed from the dog owner which is where it belongs. Irresponsible people are also less likely to follow the law - and as a result, everyone has to suffer

2,008 10:32 am PDT, May 26 Ms. amy beth davey little egg harbor Pit bulls are intelligent, loving animals. The OWNERS are at fault for the misuse and mistreatment these loyal pets. BAN IRRESPONSIBLE OWNERS, NOT THE ANIMALS!

2,002 3:28 pm PDT, May 18   Dahran Ezzell Springfild The humans are the problem. IT is time the law stop attaking the innocent animals and start going after the people that are abusing theme. It is a damn time to put a end to animal cruelty! WHERE ARE THE LAWS THAT STOP Animals cruelty? They SHOULD have RIGHTS too!!
2,001 10:42 am PDT, May 18   Nancy Billings Edgewood The animals are fine loving innocents, its the HUMANS who teach them to be mean who should be banned .
