Don't let ministers authorise species extinctions! NO to the 'God clause'!

With dozens of species now going extinct every day, our ecosystem and wildlife need our protection more than ever. However, a proposed West Australian clause will give government ministers the power to legally authorise the extinction of a threatened species. West Australia's upper house are debating the clause next month, and we need to take a stand against it now! Please sign this petition to say NO to this terrible abuse of human power over other animals.

The clause, known as the 'God clause' by its many critics, will let ministers approve actions such as land development, that could result in the extinction of a species. Scientists are calling it a blow to biodiversity. Professor of environmental science, John Bailey, said the proposed legislation could hasten the extinction of West Australia’s most critically endangered species.

We urgently need Liberals to stand alongside Labor and Green voters to stop this clause being accepted in its current form, as Liberals hold a large majority in the upper house. If we get enough signatures, it will be clear to Liberal house members that the public opposes the 'God clause' and wants to see threatened species protected. Together we can care for wildlife and diversity, and demand our governments do the same.
