Protect Polar Bears!

The Alaskan Arctic is home to incredible wildlife, from majestic polar bears, walruses, and other iconic species. But the wild habitat for these amazing species is vanishing with terrifying speed.

Just weeks ago, the Obama administration approved Shell's lease to drill for oil in the Alaskan Arctic as soon as this summer — putting the lives of polar bears and more at risk of deadly oil spills. The government's own analysis said there's a 75% chance that Shell's Arctic oil plans will lead to at least one major oil spill. That's unacceptable!

But it's not too late for the Arctic - and for the polar bears that depend on this environment for survival. That's why your voice is needed now.

Take action today and join our campaign to protect the Arctic. Send an urgent message to President Obama, urging him to reject Shell's Arctic drilling plans for good.
Dear President Obama,

You have declared that "No challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change" and showed leadership in vetoing the Keystone XL pipeline bill. Why then, would you
allow Shell to drill in Arctic waters after a Nature study declared that Arctic Oil MUST be kept in the ground to prevent catastrophic climate change?

We call on your administration to protect the Arctic from offshore oil drilling and reject Shell's 2015 Exploration Plan. The technology does not exist to clean up an oil spill in the Arctic Ocean, and Arctic oil must be left in the ground in order to avoid the catastrophic effects of climate change. The risks are simply too great to allow drilling in this fragile and important ecosystem.
