DEMAND JUSTICE FOR WOMAN PUBLICALLY MOCKED BY POLICE FOR BEING RAPED AS A CHILD BY HER FATHER

  • by: Emily Ann

Baton Rouge, LA — Disgusting, repugnant, vile, hateful, despicable. These are just a few words that can be used to describe the actions of several of Baton Rouge’s finest.

Police officers in Baton Rouge PD constructed a float of the reality show "Sons of guns" which focused on the daughter of the former television star, Will Hayden. Hayden is currently facing sexual assault charges in East Baton Rouge and Livingston Parishes, after being accused of sexually assaulting his own daughter (pictured) along with two other victims.

The float was “decorated” with a large photo of Stephanie Ford, the sexual assault victim, with the caption underneath her photo stating, “A face only a daddy could love.” Other sayings on the float consisted of things like, “Krewe of Sleazania,” “Red Jack It” and “Kiss Me Daddy.”

Ford issued a statement after the incident saying that her worst fears were realized after officers used her image in such a manner.

“I was assured by the Baton Rouge (police department) that my safety and rights would be protected. To have a member of law enforcement treat me, a victim, in this manner tells women and children across America that their worst fears will be realized if they come forward".

Ford also said at least one of the officers took to Facebook to share photos of her image on the float.

The Free Thought Project contacted the Baton Rouge police department to get the status of this supposed internal “investigation.” We were told only that “these investigations can take up to 60 days to complete.”

YOU MUST SIGN THIS PETITION TO DEMAND THE OFFICERS INVOLVED ARE FIRED IMMEDIATELY AND THIS WOMAN GET'S THE JUSTICE SHE DESERVES.

As the victim herself perfectly stated:
“What prevents women and children from coming forward and reporting sexual crimes is the fear of being further victimized and shamed by law enforcement, the justice system, the community and of course their attacker.”

Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman Cpl. Don Coppola identified the three officers in the float as Donald Young, John Byron Fontenot and Douglas Atkins.

BRPD Chief Carl Dabadie:

We the people DEMAND the 3 Baton Rouge police officers, Donald Young, John Byron Fontenot and Douglas Atkins, be IMMEDIATELY fired from the police department for their involvement in constructing the float which mocked the woman who had been raped as a child by her father.

What these officers did to this woman is cruel, humiliating, disrespectful, hurtful, and downright evil.  I can only imagine how humiliated, betrayued, devastated and heartbroken she is knowing the officers she turned to for help were entertained by the details of her nightmare.  It's truly unforgivable.

What makes matters worse is that the attitudes of these 3 officers are reflected throughout the entire police department, as demonstrated in your decision to launch an "internal investigation" rather than summarily fire these officers.

The actions of these police officers have a detrimental impact on your community because it emboldens sexual predators and undermines the seriousness of rape--and in particular incest and pedophilia.  This undoutedly prevents other victims from coming forward in fear that they will either be exposed or laughed at behind their backs.

Failure to terminate these individuals sends the message that Baton Rouge PD does NOT care about the girls and women in the community and don't think child rape and incest is a legitimate crime.  Is this the atmosphere you'd like to create?

Hey friends!

Thanks so much to those who have signed my petition to get some justice for this woman. To be re-victimized like this is horrific. I would be absolutely devastated and humiliated if someone did this to me. Ultimate betrayal of trust between the victim and the police. Knowing that the cops I entrusted this information to were somehow entertained by the details of what happened to me. Makes me sick. Anyway keep sharing and caring! XO
