Reintroduce the lynx to the UK to improve wildlife diversity

Natural England and Scottish Natural Heritage will soon be deciding whether to support a program of Lynx reintroduction in the UK. This is a really exciting opportunity to improve the diversity and balance of our wildlife populations, and is also a unique chance to reinstate one of our most beautiful wild animals.

The Lynx Trust UK will submit their licence application this October. They argue that reintroduction of this native predator will have a hugely enriching effect on wildlife population and diversity. Public support is said to be high, but it's important that this is proven with signatures. Please sign to show your support for these plans.

Lynxes continue to thrive in certain parts of Europe, but it is believed that they suffered a 'local extinction' in the UK during the Medieval times. In Scotland today, deer have no remaining natural predators, and increases in their numbers have a wide-reaching impact on countless flora and fauna. A modest lynx population would help rebalance their numbers without resorting to culls.

Please sign this petition to express your support for the reintroduction of lynxes. If enough people sign, it will prove that the public are keen to see initatives put in place to reinvogorate British wildife.

Natural England and Scottish Natural Heritage:

I am writing today to urge you to support reintroduction of the lynx in the UK.

The lynx is a beautiful and unique part of our natural heritage that would be a great asset to the British countryside for locals and vistors alike.

It is also a great opportunity to address the worrying loss of biodiversity by reintroducing a natural predator of deer.
