Stand Up for Healthier Communities in Colorado

Next time you walk out your front door, consider how your local government affects the options you have for walking, biking and nearby access to nutritious food and places for safe physical activity. When we think about public policy debates over health, we tend to conjure legislators under capitol domes in Denver and D.C. However, our mayors and city council members often play a bigger role in influencing our health. It's time we applied a commensurate level of attention to this political arena.

That's why Healthier Colorado is telling local governments across the state that Coloradans want local health improvements. We will use show of support in the course of connecting with local officials in all corners of Colorado to push for advances in local public health. By signing this statement, you'll be telling your local government you’re a voter who cares about safe walking and biking that integrates with public transit, reasonable access to nutritious food for every neighborhood, and places for all kids to safely engage in physical activity.

Local governments won't invest in our health unless they know that voters like us value these health investments and will consider this topic when making decisions on our election ballots.

Let's tell our local elected leaders we want to make healthier communities. Sign the petition today to strengthen our movement toward a Healthier Colorado, beginning right where you live.
I want my local government to support safe walking and biking that integrates with public transit, access to nutritious food for every neighborhood, and places and opportunities for all kids to engage in physical activity.
