President Obama: Take Action for Africa’s Children

President Obama has made ending preventable child deaths a national priority. But we can’t achieve this without greater progress in Africa, where more than 3 million young children died last year from easily treatable causes.

We know what works to save the lives of young children but these programs don’t have the funding and support to reach all the families that need it. In August, President Obama is hosting African leaders for the very first time to talk about investing in the next generation. This is a critical opportunity to call for a bold U.S.-African partnership to ensure that moms and their babies have what they need to survive. By 2020, this critical program could translate into 1 million lives saved.

Sign our petition calling on President Obama to announce a U.S.-Africa partnership on Maternal, Newborn and Child Health at the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit this August to accelerate progress on reducing maternal, newborn and child mortality. Together, we can save one million lives.
To President Obama:

I am a Save the Children supporter and I call on you to prioritize children on the agenda and advocate for a U.S.-Africa Partnership on Maternal, Newborn and Child Health at the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit where both the U.S. and African leaders agree upon specific, innovative ways to accelerate progress on reducing maternal, newborn and child mortality -- a partnership that could literally change the world.
