LA county Animal Shelters are having very high kill-rates for the animals. Shelter Directors need more information and assistance on  need-to-know topics from Fundraising and Public Relations, to Adoptions Marketing and Social Media. They can meet some of the best out-of-the-box thinkers and leaders in animal welfare and become empowered to change animal welfare in the city, state, country and planet.

Pet Conference at ACES International by Helen Woodward Animal Center is from Sept 26-28, 2013

Topics discussed and workshops include:

Humane Education in Culturally Diverse Areas

Public Relations — multiple new sessions on topics including detailed marketing strategies, generating and executing a “story” case-study and press release workshop.

How to Revamp Your Adoptions Program — step-by-step guidance on setting goals that result in QUALITY adoptions and HIGH retention rates, setting a leadership example that will motivate staff, creating a highly skilled staffing team that can teach responsible pet ownership, better the adopter screening process, and market less popular animals.

Full Day of Fundraising — Learn how to make your organization every donor’s dream through in-depth sessions for both beginners and more experienced fundraisers.  Beginner topics will include an overview of fundraising best practices, plus Grant Writing 101 and Direct Mail Basics for organizations of all sizes, with the opportunity to submit your grant proposal or mail piece for review and input.  Advanced Sessions will focus on how to continue building relationships with your donors to gain their long-term commitment to your organization, and how to identify and cultivate individuals with the potential to make a major gift.  Sessions will include expert panels featuring actual foundation, corporate, and individual donors to answer your questions and discuss strategies for securing the gift.

Standardization of the Industry — half day workshop on the current state and future of the animal care industry featuring an expert panel, attendee participation in the discussion and setting of the priority standards in our industry, and guidelines for implementation.  Includes discussion on why paid, fair market wage positions are essential to our success.

Creating and Increasing Revenue Streams — in-depth session focusing on the importance of diversifying revenue streams to ensure a successful business with long-term financial stability.  Includes a review of program ideas that can work for any size organization.

Please encourage all Animal Shelter Directors in the County to attend this workshop. It may bring limitless benifits to LA shelter-pets and LA county shelters reputation under your leadership
