Demand Alexandria Presbyterian Church Remove Their Proposed Parking Lot Entrance/Exit On Scroggins Road

Help us keep our neighborhood safe from increasing traffic and safety concerns -- this impacts YOU!

On Saturday, January 25th at 9:30AM the Alexandria City Council will hold a public hearing to review an appeal brought by surrounding neighbors regarding the Alexandria Presbyterian Church's proposed plan to tear down its existing 3400 sq ft building, playground, and single family home to build a 24,000 sq ft megachurch with 100 space parking lot. The site is at the intersection of W. Braddock Rd and Scroggins Rd in Alexandria, VA (see above image, or Google Maps here).

Not only will this exacerbate massive traffic and safety issues for neighbors, commuters, and those who walk to and from TC Williams and other surrounding schools, APC has proposed one of its two entrances/exits to its expansive parking lot be located on the small, narrow section of Scroggins Road.

By signing this petition, you are joining the many neighbors who have spoken out, asking APC leadership to remove its proposed parking lot entrance/exit on Scroggins Road, and instead place both entrances/exits on W. Braddock -- as other religious institutions in the area have done with success. Additionally, neighbors are asking for the location of the building to be placed in the center of the lot, further away from the street, as other churches in the area have done.

This would allow for less congestion in neighborhood streets, less pain for neighbors attempting to park near their homes, and less pedestrian safety issues for those walking in the surrounding areas.
In short, this solution, while not perfect, will make the area safer.
