Save the Endangered Species Act!

WILDLIFE AND PESTICIDES DON'T MIX!
Since taking office, the Bush administration has steadily chipped away at the Endangered Species Act.

Now, the administration wants to weaken the laws governing the use of pesticides that would allow companies to use dangerous chemicals without ensuring endangered wildlife will be protected. The pesticide industry has sought this change for many years. Their goal? Avoid protections for endangered wildlife, freeing them up to do what they will with their chemicals. It is widely known that pesticides can kill or harm wildlife, including species on the brink of extinction.

You can help stop this dangerous new policy and protect our country's endangered wildlife. Sign this petition below and send a FREE message to the agency's leaders and tell them to reject the pesticide industry's attempt to weaken wildlife protection laws.

I am very upset to learn that near the 30th anniversary of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) your agencies are rewriting and weakening the very laws that protect our endangered wildlife and their habitat.

I am particularly concerned about your proposal to allow the Environmental Protection Agency to make its own decisions regarding the use of dangerous and highly toxic pesticides instead of consulting with the Federal agencies charged with protecting endangered plants and animals and their habitats.

It concerns me that this policy would only benefit the chemical and pesticides industries to the detriment of the environment and the health of American citizens. Last year, the same rat poison that killed several San Joaquin Kit Foxes and Golden Eagles in California was responsible for most of the over 48,000 reported poisonings of children under six.

Pesticides kill millions of birds and other species each year. Piping Plovers in Florida and San Joaquin Kit Foxes, Golden Eagles, and salmon in the Pacific Northwest are just a few of the species that have suffered due to pesticide and rodenticide applications in recent years. Your proposal would undermine the strict protections that are afforded to endangered wildlife in our nation.

I believe that it is important to care for our environment both to safeguard our own health and safety and to protect the plants and animals that live in the wild. I urge you to withdraw the proposed rule change that would allow the EPA to decide for itself whether pesticides would be harmful to endangered species.

Thank you for your consideration.

They are all so beautiful. What a shame to bequest to the next generation a world without wildlife, or even with less variety of it. It is also dangerous for our own survival to destroy the environment.

The wildlife are dying out because of mainly us and we need to do somthing to help these wonderful creatures of the world. I agree with previous signers in that the animals cant fight for them selves and that they deserve a second chance at surviving.

I love animals! Animals can't fight for themselves! Especially against humans! Humans are the worst creatures in the world, I think! Bush probably got money for the pesticide... This needs to end. Can't animals be free? Can't you STOP KILLING THEM?!?!!?!?

Animals can't fight or lobby for their rights. Man infringes on their domains and does what he will to further his own ends.

The wildlife has a lot for us to learn. Then when there is no more wildlife then what is going to happen. But once the animals go extenct then what about the othere animal? What is going to be killed after that befor all the animals end up in zoos.
