Reverse Native Title Injustice To Mirning People - JOIN THE FIGHT- SAVE THE BIGHT

Mirning people of South Australia are the traditional owners of the Nullabor, along the Great Australian Bight- also known as the Whale Dreamers. Their land covers an area from Fowlers Bay to Point Culver in Western Australia. In 1992 the traditional Mirning elders made an application to have Native Title over their land. This meant that the Mirning people were the FIRST registered claim group of the far west coast. During the management of this claim lawyers advised that the Mirning needed to combine with 6 groups from neighboring tribes from the Far West Coast of South Australia into one large claim area. Unbeknown to the Mirning this tactic was purely to make it "easy" for the government to deal with exploration and mining interests. The Mirning people reluctantly agreed on this combination only on the condition that each tribe would speak for their own country. The condition was never met!  Each time a meeting would be held Mirning people would be outvoted by the other 5 tribes. Mining and exploration is now happening on Mirning country. This is because Mirning people cannot stop this because these other tribes out number and out vote the Mirning at every meeting . Mirning people lost their country due to false and misleading anthropologist reports. These reports to date have never been allowed to be viewed publically. Mirning people have battled through courts only to not have any of their evidence heard. Help us pressure the government!! Please show your concerns and support by signing our petition.
