I Want Peace, Solidarity and Unity in Somalia

Target: International Community
Sponsor: Daughter Of Somalia
  • Signatures: 119
  • Goal: 1,000,000
  • Deadline: Ongoing...
Since the beginning 1991, Somalia, a land with a magnificent history and rich culture was thrown into anarchy. A nation that fought fiercely against oppression from the British, French and Italian imperialists was finally brought down by its own people. For 16 years the Somali people have been forced to live in Diaspora. Generations upon generations have yet to see or experience what it means to belong to a nation. Youth all around the world, me included, haven’t stepped on the ground their forefathers used to pack their camels. The number of the youth who are loosing touch with their roots and their culture is decreasing by the minute. Our hearts are years after years filled with false hope, as peace talk after peace talk fail.  We will not give up. Where there is hope, there is a dream and a goal. Our goal is peace and prosperity in the Horn.  Yet, I believe that to reach our goal, we must stand united. We must unite our strength and rebuild our destructed nation. Solidarity and brotherhood should fill our hearts. At a time like this, we should remember our flag. A five edged star representing the five parts the people of Somalia inhabit – NFD, Somalia, Ogaden, Somaliland and Djibouti. Each part has experienced tremendous sorrow and much oppression in the past. This is not something we should forget, on the contrary, we should take this experience with us in rebuilding our homeland.NFD, Ogaden, Djibouti and Somaliland belong to Somalia. Somalia belongs to NFD, Ogaden, Somaliland and Djibouti.

Let’s form a common front and show the world that although our nation might be torn into pieces, our spirit will not be defeated. Remember that one voice speaking loud and clearly is better heard than thousand voices whispering. SIGN THIS PETITION AND JOIN THAT ONE VOICE, SPEAKING AGAINST OPPRESSION, INJUSTICE AND POVERTY. THE ONE VOICE FIGHTING FOR PEACE, PROSPERITY AND UNITY.

I Want Peace, Solidarity and Unity in Somalia

We shouldn’t forget the past, but we should forgive eachother. As a great Somali poet once said:  saban tagay mid so socdiyo, saaka waxa jooga - a fortnight past, a fortnight coming and what is present.saddexdaas baa xaal adduun, lagu sifeeyaaye
- those three describe the cycle of the universe

soo noqod ma jiri wixii shalay, saaduufo tegaye
- there is no turning back on what has already happened.
waxa berri iyo saadambana, wa su'aal maqane

- what will happen tomorrow stays unanswered
waxay taladu kuu suubantahay, suubaxaad joogtaaye
- the good advice is needed the most, this mere morning

The advice from me to you is to support a united
Somalia. NFD, Ogaden, Djibouti and Somaliland belong to Somalia.
