ONE Voice. ONE Goal: Fight Global AIDS and Poverty

Target: The American Public;
Sponsored by: The ONE Campaign
This is a time of desperate need, as well as tremendous hope. This is the time for us to speak with ONE voice, and to join together to fight the emergency of AIDS and extreme poverty in Africa and the world's poorest countries.

Here is the crisis we face:
  • 6,300 people in Africa die each day of AIDS
  • Each day ONE in four Africans goes without enough food to eat
  • Each day ONE in three children in Africa can't afford to go to school
  • Each day more than ONE in three Africans goes without access to clean water
  • Every seven seconds, ONE child in Africa dies of preventable disease
  • For ONE dollar we can stop an HIV+ mother giving her child HIV in childbirth
  • ONE dollar a day can keep an HIV+ mother alive
  • For around $40 a year we can put ONE child in basic education in Africa.
Add your voice to those calling for an end to global AIDS and poverty. Sign this petition to urge your fellow Americans to fully commit to fighting AIDS around the world. Be a part of the ONE Campaign make the world better and safer for all.

To the American Public:

We believe that in the best American tradition of helping others help themselves, now is the time to join with other countries in an historic pact for compassion and justice to help the poorest people of the world overcome AIDS and poverty.

[Your comments: Why is fighting global AIDS and poverty important to you?]

We recognize that a pact including such measures as fair trade, debt relief, fighting corruption and targeting an additional one percent of the U.S. budget towards providing basic needs - education, health, clean water, food, and care for orphans- would transform the futures and hopes of an entire generation in the poorest countries.

We commit ourselves -- one person, one voice, one vote at a time -- to make a better, safer world for all.

Sincerely,
YOUR NAME

So many people are dying for no reason and no fault of theirs. Poverty is a horrible thing, while billions are spent by people from developed nations on PET CARE GROOMING PRODUCTS, millions of human beings don't even have food to eat, if that is not disgusting, i don't know what is.
