Save our National Forests

The Butler Hollow  (Mark Twain National Forest ) project will destroy 18,000 acres of mature diverse forest and turn it into an enormous hot barren glade, at the expense of an existing mature, deep forest, with many shade loving species such as pitcher plants, maiden hair fern, wild ginger, goldenseal, bloodroot, and ginseng.  These are but a small percentage of what will be lost to this project.

We are asking you to agree to  alternative 1, do nothing.

Dear Mr Koloski

I am very concerned that you are prepared to take on such a destructive project. A project that will result in the need to burn thousands of acres with no end in sight. Red cedars are the only species that will thrive in the new environment you intend to create. Since the eradication of the cedar is one of your stated goals, you will need to burn this area in perpetuity to maintain your desired goals. This is unacceptable to the residents that will choke on the smoke, the animals and plants that will be burned alive, and our cildren who will never know the lush forest that exists here today.

We urge you to support option 1, do nothing.
