The July 21st illustrated cover of The New Yorker magazine depicts Barack Obama in a turban fist-bumping Michelle Obama, who sports an afro and a machine gun, while an American flag burns in the fireplace. The New Yorker editorial staff defends the cover as satire, while both the Obama and McCain campaigns have condemned the cover as "tasteless and offensive."
