More than 155,000 women in America's armed services have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan since 2002. But as these distinguished women return home, they are finding a veterans health care system better equipped to deal with the needs of men. A bipartisan group of U.S. Senators introduced the Women Veterans Health Care Improvement Act of 2008 (S.2799) to provide for the unique needs of our female veterans. The legislation will authorize programs to improve care for Military Sexual Trauma (MST), increase research on the current barriers to care, and expand women veterans staff positions at the VA. Urge your Senator to give our women veterans the specialized care they deserve by supporting this bill!
We signed the “Improve Health Care For Female Veterans” petition!

I served during Iraqi freedom nearly 5 years ago when the war first started. I am finding it hard to believe that the benefits for women are so short. Every woman needs these opportunites. Especially the maternal women. Having this bill passed will help women like me who has a fixed income to have a child at the VA (and be covered). That would be an amazing accomplishment for the VA.

As a woman veteran, I understand how difficult it is to obtain quality health care at a VA facility. I also understand the unique needs that we as women hae that men do not have. Recognizing that a "one-size fits all" healthcare system is not working anymor efor the VA, I urge you to support this bill.

I am a 100% Dis.abled Vet. Since Hurricane Katrina, we have lost our Hospital. I have incurred debt of close to 3,000.00. The VA Has stillnot paid the charges. And there is no one to talk to for Sexual Trauma

Because I am a 100% SC disabled female veteran (mental and physical problems) currently dealing with isues in the Greater New Orleans area. Where we have all but no hospital care. No emergency room facilities other than local ER's that are already over booked and taxed to the limit caring for civilians. Our hospital will not be available until late 2012 or early 2013.

These people and brave soldiers are willing to die for our country, and we can't do more to insure their health and families well being? This makes absolutely no sense...and their has to be something done about this.
Signed peacefully,
David Rawske

We will not be able to stop our country's misadventures of war to other countries (as has been the case for over 200 years) unless we convince our youth not to join the military. The military of today is primarily in existence to act as a tool for corporate interests abroad. Please say no to war!

Improving health care for all Americans is important to me! I am sincerely disturbed by the fact that any soldier past or present should EVER have to suffer without the best healthcare available! They sacrifice their blood, sweat and tears for this country the least we can do is treat them with the honor and dignity they deserve!!!! Let's show some gratitude for their service to us!!!!
