Tell Minister Noonan: We Want Corporate Tax Transparency

Tax is a powerful way to fund schools and hospitals everywhere. We all pay taxes, but big companies do not pay their fair share; taking away from vital public services every year in developing countries.

ActionAid estimates that developing countries lose over $120 billion to tax avoidance annually. These are funds that could help educate young children, and heal the sick and end suffering.

It doesn't have to be this way. We call on Minister Noonan to demand transparency from multinational companies through public country by country reporting, so governments, civil society organisations, and journalists can monitor the movement of money and ensure appropriate tax is paid in all countries—including those that need it most.

Take action today and tell Minister Noonan you want transparent and fair tax practices from big companies.
Dear Minister Noonan,

Tax is powerful. It funds schools and hospitals everywhere. We all pay tax, but right now, big companies aren’t paying as much as they should in developing countries. This takes billions of dollars away from vital public services every year and the world’s poorest people are suffering as a result.

ActionAid estimates that developing countries lose over $120 billion to tax avoidance annually.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. Greater transparency could stop this happening by allowing developing countries to see what multinationals are paying and where.

If big companies reported a small amount of information publicly, on a country by country basis, governments, civil society organisations, and journalists could monitor the movement of money and ensure appropriate tax is paid in all countries, including those that need it most.

We call on you to support greater transparency and tax justice through:
• Public Country by country reporting of important information including: The name of the company, nature of their activities, turnover, profit or loss before tax, tax on profit or loss, and public subsidies received.
• Non-reciprocal automatic exchange of information between countries. This would mean developing countries have access to the information they need to stop tax avoidance.
