Stand Tall for America: Support Health Care for All!

Target: U.S. Senate
Sponsored by: Stand Tall for America

It's time for universal health care.  Senator Ron Wyden (D-Oregon) has proposed the Healthy Americans Act, and it would guarantee everyone health care that is:

  • Universal. Every American will have guaranteed health care.
  • Comprehensive.  A high quality plan - as good as what members of Congress get.
  • Portable.  It's your health care, and you can take it with you if you change jobs, are laid off, go to school, start a new business, or become too sick to work.
  • Non-discriminatory.  We'll ban "pre-existing conditions" and make sure that every pays a fair price for equal, high quality, coverage.
  • Affordable.  Under $40,000 income?  You'll pay less than you do now.  Under $150,000 income?  You'll pay about $1 a day more than today for guaranteed coverage.

Can the Healthy Americans Act be a reality?  Yes.  There are already over a dozen bipartisan co-sponsors in the U.S. Senate.

Once the Healthy Americans Act passes, we will have universal, affordable, comprehensive, portable, high-quality, private health coverage - within one year.  There's no reason to wait.  The Act even saves money through wellness and prevention - $1.48 trillion in one respected, independent study.

The Healthy Americans Act puts you in charge of your health care choices, not your employer.  Every American will feel secure, knowing that your health care won't ever go away.  And 46 million Americans will get the comprehensive health care they need.

But we need your help to make the Healthy Americans Act a reality.  We need a few more Senators to sign on as co-sponsors - so tell your Senators to support the Healthy Americans Act today!

Dear Senator [Last Name]:

At this moment, 46 million Americans are uninsured. For workers and their families who have health insurance through their employers, many are afraid that they will lose coverage if they change jobs, are laid off, go to school or become too sick to work.

But the Healthy Americans Act, a bi-partisan health care reform plan by Senator Ron Wyden (D-Oregon), would guarantee every American universal, affordable, comprehensive, portable, high-quality, private health coverage that is as good or better than Members of Congress have today. The Act includes tough cost containment measures -- and would save Americans $1.45 trillion over the next decade.

The Healthy Americans Act:

- Guarantees private health care coverage that doesn't go away, even if you change jobs, lose your job, retire, go to school or become too sick to work.
- Provides a generous benefit equal to those of Members of Congress.
We signed the “Stand Tall for America: Support Health Care for All!” petition!

It's time that the citizens of the United States have the same quality health care as all other developed nations. I am so sick and tired of executives from healthcare companies and drug companies making big bucks a year, 9-figure salaries, whilst struggling Americans barely can afford anything in these tough times. The USA is so far behind the rest of the developed world when it comes to providing decent healthcare. Health care is too loaded with bureaucracy for doctors and patients. I love this idea that every American should have healthcare. We can't wait. Please, please pass this act. Please make it a reality.

Please make it a reality. Give citizens of the United States a step toward real security. Have the Insurance company's put up or shut up if they don't like it. It is a shame that the only real winners in the health care industry are insurance companies and drug and medical equipment manufactures. Fix health care now.

I love this idea that every American should have healthcare. My sister got into a car accident, that was not her fault, and had to go to the emergency room. Her hospital bills were about $5000, and all because her job didn’t offer health insurance. We all are a part of America and we should all have the same rights as far as healthcare, rich or poor. Hopefully this petition will open eyes to Congress and also to many wealthy Americans who do not have to worry about things like healthcare.

Health care is too loaded with bureaucracy for doctors and patients. It could be improved for both.

The USA is so far behind the rest of the developed world when it comes to providing decent healthcare. How can any system that functions on the basis of profiting from the sickness of others be considered ethical. National Health Insurance for all is not only doable, it will be cheaper and more efficient that the current system. The only arguments for keeping the current system come from the fat cats who are profiting off the misery of others.
