Expose McCain's Ties to Anti-Abortion Terrorists

In 1993, McCain spoke at a fundraiser for the ultra-far-right Oregon Citizens Alliance. Immediately prior to McCain's speech, Marylin Shannon (a McCain delegate this year) praised a woman who had shot a doctor who worked at an abortion clinic - a woman to whom the sentencing judge later said, "You are a terrorist." But McCain said nothing to denounce this domestic terrorist.
A year later, McCain followed this support of militant anti-choice extremism by voting against the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE). FACE makes it a crime to forcibly interfere with women's access to reproductive-health facilities. Instead, McCain voted to allow people who harass women seeking healthcare, vandalize health clinic property and violently attack clinic workers to avoid paying legal fines by declaring bankruptcy.
Urge John McCain to explain his ties to militant anti-abortion terrorists to the American public.
Dear Senator McCain,
Remember the old proverb that says a person who lives in a glass house should not throw stones? Although your campaign has tried to link Senator Obama to domestic terrorists, the one who actually has ties is you - to militant anti-abortion terrorists. I urge you to explain your ties to these domestic terrorists to the American public.
In 1993, you spoke at a fundraiser for the Oregon Citizens' Alliance - a group your well-respected Republican colleague Senator Mark Hatfield urged you to avoid. An Arizona newspaper headline read, "Hate group finds friend in McCain." And immediately prior to your speech, your 2008 delegate Marylin Shannon offered a prayer in support of a woman who had shot a Navy veteran and doctor who worked at an abortion clinic - a woman to whom the sentencing judge later said, "You are a terrorist." But you said nothing to denounce this domestic terrorist.
Coupled with your voting history of denying women safety in front of abortion clinics, this incident suggests you have deep connections to domestic terrorists. Such ties must be explained to the American public - now.
