Add your voice: New Mexico Needs a Strong Clean Power Plan!

Every day, New Mexico's families and farmers are suffering the impacts of climate-torching carbon pollution. Coal-fired power plants spew toxic emissions that increase asthma and other illnesses. Droughts are threatening farms. Wildfires destroy some of our beloved wilderness and public lands. And it will only get worse as antiquated power plants continue to pollute the atmosphere and change the climate.

But this is only the beginning. If left unchecked carbon pollution and the climate change it drives will intensify these already crippling impacts that disproportionately affect New Mexico's Latino, Native, low-income and rural populations.

Luckily, this summer the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized the Clean Power Plan — the first-ever national limits on carbon pollution, the most significant contributor to climate change.

The Clean Power Plan provides a critical opportunity to curb New Mexico's climate crisis. But it's up to us to ensure that our elected leaders step up and listen to New Mexicans like you and me — not the big polluters who are fighting to block this vital plan.

New Mexico's future depends on renewable and clean energy sources like wind and solar that will protect our climate while improving our health, decreasing pollution, and strengthening our economy.

Add your voice today and join the growing movement of New Mexicans who support the Clean Power Plan to protect our air, land and water! Together, we can convince our leaders to create a strong plan for New Mexico, crafted by the communities most affected by dirty energy production.

As a New Mexican, I support the Environmental Protection Agencies' new Clean Power Plan and demand that my state’s leaders enact a strong plan to reduce carbon pollution in New Mexico.

Coal-fired power plants are spewing toxic pollution into our environment resulting in catastrophic consequences for New Mexicans — heart and lung illnesses caused by air pollution, and climate change-driven droughts and wildfires.

The Land of Enchantment — its people, lands, and wildlife — deserve a plan that takes us into the clean energy future, rather than repeating our dirty energy past. We urge New Mexico's decision makers to ensure that communities most impacted by carbon pollution have a pivotal role in designing our state plan.
