Support Microloans to Help Alleviate Poverty

Jackline is a farmer in Kenya. She has been running her mixed-crop farm for more than 7 years and produces a mix of sorghum, milk, maize, tea and beans which she sells at the local market. She also operates her own shop selling her products.

She used her $875 loan (gathered on Kiva from 32 different lenders) to purchase a dairy cow, which allowed her to add milk and yogurt to her shop's offerings, bringing in even more income from her business. She plans to use the money to expand her shop even more - and because of her boom in business, she no longer has to worry about the cost of sending her four kids to school.

Microloans are an incredibly effective and flexible way of helping to alleviate poverty. Small loans can change entrepreneurs' lives, the future for their families, and the outlook for their communities.
