Ask the government to fund the women's groups ending violence

  • by: ActionAid UK
  • recipient: Priti Patel, Secretary of State for International Development

One in three women and girls will experience violence in their lifetimes. But this is entirely preventable.

Around the world, fearless women are leading grassroots groups working to change this. In fact, the work of women's rights organisations is the best way to create the real change needed to end violence against women. But they are critically underfunded.

After the huge political turmoil of the past few weeks we now have a new government and a new minister for international development, Priti Patel. She now has the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of some of the world's most marginalised women and girls.

We must make sure she knows that grassroots women's groups are the frontline of the fight to end violence, and call on her to fund them.

No woman or girl should have to live in fear of violence. Stand with fearless women everywhere and sign the petition now.

Dear Ms. Patel:

I call on you to make sure the UK government helps meet the commitments made to end violence against women and achieve gender equality by supporting the critical work of women's rights organisations with increased funding.
