Re-authorize the Ryan White Act: Urgent! Deadline Extended

Target: U.S. Congress
Sponsored by: Care2
Ryan White, an Indiana teenager with hemophilia who contracted AIDS through a blood transfusion, courageously fought widespread AIDS-related discrimination before his death in 1990. Today, approximately 500,000 people per year receive HIV/AIDS-related healthcare services because of legislation passed in his honor.

The Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act is the largest federally funded program for people living with HIV/AIDS. And because it funds treatments when no other resources are available, it is particularly vital to low-income, uninsured and under-insured HIV/AIDS patients.

The Ryan White Act has been re-authorized under both the Clinton and Bush Administrations. Urgent: the deadline to ensure that it is re-authorized under the Obama Administration has been extended to October 30.

Demand that your elected Congresspersons re-authorize this important bill!
deadline: 10-30-2009
goal: 10,000

This is truly a matter of life and death for many people. People are losing thier lives while this is being discussed. It is not our place to judge or decide if a person has a right to live or die due to thier finacial situation. These are people we are talking about and they deserve nothing less than you would expect for your own family. Please don't spare any more time while someones life is hanging in the balance. This is issue is VERY important and needs to be re-authorized immediately.

Hi, I have a close personal friend who nearly died of AIDS (at the time he was diagnosed) last year. He has improved considerably, since that time, much in part due to the Ryan White foundation. He has no health insurance and cannot afford the $1000+ per month for medication. My friend, and most many others, will most likely die without this funding. Thanks for your consideration in this matter. - Scott A. Packer

I am a firefighter Safety Officer. The need for this act to continue plays a vital roll in my fellow emergency care providers health should a exposure occur that requires immediate treatment. Delays could be deadly. Please support this legislation. Thank You

I am a person living with HIV and I personally know how inportant it is to have this help. I currently have a part-time job, but I am a cancer survivor and if the cancer comes back, I will again need the assistance the Ryan White CARE Act provides. Please re-authorize. You have no idea how many people you are helping when you do this. Thank You, Meredith Byas
