There’s nothing entertaining about cruelty to animals. Animals in circuses are beaten with sharp metal bullhooks, shocked with electrical devices, and whipped so that they will perform unnatural and often dangerous tricks. When they are not being forced to perform, the animals spend most of their lives in shackles. They are forced to stand up for hours and even days at a time in cramped, filthy trucks during the long trips from city to city, and they often have to perform even when they become ill.
The fact is, animals do not naturally ride bicycles, stand on their heads, balance on balls, or jump through rings of fire—they only do so after they have been beaten into submission.
