The standard method of training involves forcing a thick iron ring through the nose, which causes considerable pain when yanked. The bears ?dance?in an attempt to avoid the pain. Alternatively, music is played whilst the bear stands on hot plates, where it will dance to stop being burnt. It will then dance whenever it hears music.
With more than one thousand dancing bears in India, WSPA's first aim is to make sure that no more cubs are captured and sold into the trade. Please write to India's Minister of Environment and encourage him to work with WSPA to develop a sanctuary for dancing bears to enable the immediate confiscation of bear cubs in trade.
Keep up the great work. Look what you've accomplished!
