Reese-Beaux Arts Park in Pinellas Park FL

The site was originally a hotel called the Royal Palms Hotel established in 1914, the same year Pinellas Park became a town.  His maternal grandfather built the hotel, as well as being an engineer for the city and designing some of our streets.  Beaux Arts evolved out of that hotel, and people former residents Jack Kerouac and Jim Morrison frequented the coffeehouse.  In 1993, the St. Petersburg times reported that then City Manager Ron Forbes said a park was planned.  In 2006, more than six months since Tom Reese passed on, and the land remains vacant, unkempt, and partially a police dog training center.  We ask that the city honor it's promise to us and establish a commitee to institute the Reese-Beaux Arts Park as soon as possible.
