Tell the Next President to Respect State Marijuana Laws and Help End Federal Marijuana Prohibition

Marijuana prohibition has been just as ineffective, wasteful, and problematic as alcohol prohibition.

As a result, many states are adopting their own marijuana policies. More than half of the American population now resides in states that have legalized marijuana for medical use, and four states have adopted laws that regulate marijuana for adult use, similarly to alcohol.

These state laws conflict with current federal marijuana laws, making it difficult for states to fully eliminate the underground marijuana market and address other problems that stem from our failed federal prohibition policy.

Our next president will have the opportunity to help ease the tension between state and federal marijuana laws and help end prohibition at the federal level. Specifically, we encourage the next president to work with Congress to reform federal marijuana laws and direct agencies within his or her administration to respect state marijuana laws and adopt policies that treat marijuana similarly to how our country treats alcohol.

Take action now, and sign this petition urging our next president to respect state marijuana laws and help end federal marijuana prohibition.
