With the resignation of Sandra Day OÂ’Connor, President Bush will soon be nominating a new justice to the Supreme Court.
The current Supreme Court is divided – it has decided more cases by a 5-4 margin than any in modern history. These divisions come on issues that are critical to the everyday lives of Americans – rights such as reproductive freedom, gay and lesbian equality, freedom from government-sponsored religion, and environmental protections. Sandra Day O’Connor represented the center of the Court. Her replacement will have enormous power to shape our society – our fundamental rights and protections – for decades to come.
What kind of justice will President Bush appoint? President Bush has cited the two most conservative ideologues on the Supreme Court as his model justices – Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas. They have been the template for his lower court nominations, who have been uniformly anti-civil rights, anti-choice, anti-environment, and in favor of powerful corporate interests over the rights and protections of ordinary Americans.
We urge the President to follow the Constitution and consult with senators from both parties to nominate a moderate, consensus candidate. The American public overwhelmingly desires a moderate on the Supreme Court.
We urge you to join with the Alliance for Justice Action Campaign and demand that President Bush choose consultation over confrontation. Let him know that you expect his Supreme Court nominee to defend the rights and freedoms Americans hold dear.
We signed the “Who Will Be Bush's Supreme Court Nominee? It's Your Court Too!” petition!

What America needs now is a judge that upholds the moral and freedom that America stands for. Especially, since homosexual issues are beginning to rise, a judge with strong moral values would put an end to it. Yes, I do not stand for homosexuality!

I have yet to see an America that is truly the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave". I will accept only a person who is open-minded about gay rights/same-sex marriage, women's rights/abortion rights, the well-being of the natural world, and the well-being of the poor. The only "Free" people that I see are the wealthy, conservative, white men... the Brave are those who will stand up for what they believe and what must be done to improve the world.

Our ancestos wanted us to have freedoms hee but you do not, then I should like to see you lose ALL of yours so you can appreciate things as the rest of us do. Try to make a more wise and more fair decision. One you will not have to regret.

Dear President Bush:
We, the undersigned, are writing to you to express our concern about your forthcoming nomination of a new Supreme Court justice, given that Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor has just announced her resignation from the Court.
An overwhelming majority of the American public thinks that federal judges should be chosen in a bipartisan manner. Moreover, in the recent agreement brokered in the Senate to preserve the filibuster, a bipartisan group of legislators called upon the President to consult with both parties prior to the selection of a Supreme Court nominee.
We believe this principle of bipartisan consultation with the Senate is critical in order to achieve broad support on future judicial nominees and avoid rancorous partisan battles. This is all the more critical since Justice O’Connor has been a centrist on the bench.
A fair and independent judiciary is one of the hallmarks of a great democracy. Only nominees who can demonstrate fairness, compassion, and wisdom to the highest degree should be nominated and appointed to the Supreme Court.
We urge you to act in the best interests of all Americans by nominating a moderate, consensus choice to the Supreme Court.
Sincerly,
Joseph Lazzerini
15 years old.

The United States Supreme Court is already stacked with Neocon ultra conservatives who want to take women's rights away from them.
The Bush Administration is a Facsist Government who will stop at nothing, and has total disregard what the American people think. If this was not an election year for half of the Republicans in Congress they would have never crossed the aisle to go against Bush and the Dubai World Port deal. The Neocons in Congress would have approved the deal in a heart beat, but now they're running scared because the voice of the American people is one voice, and not a voice of many. We are all of the same accord.
The RNC is pushing hard to keep control over all 3 branches of government, but it might be too late for them to keep control. Now that those who were sleeping at the watch tower have awakened we can take back our government in November. Do not give up hope, keep fighting the good fight, and right will always win over wrong!
