Tell Your Senators We Need the Women's Health Protection Act

In the past three years, state legislatures have passed more than 200 restrictions on abortion and women's health care -- an unprecedented attack on women's rights.

In Texas, at least one-third of clinics have been forced to stop providing abortion care in the last year. And right now, Mississippi's last clinic is holding on by a temporary court order.

Each time a politician attempts to deny women their right to basic health care, it affects all of us. What's happening in state legislatures around the country is a national emergency that demands a powerful national response.

There's a bill in the U.S. Senate right now that would safeguard women's health care from the agendas of extremist politicians and their allies. The Women's Health Protection Act already has 160 cosponsors in Congress, but it needs wider support to pass.

Tell your Senators to support the Women's Health Protection Act now.
Dear Senator [NAME],

We are in the midst of a national emergency.

State legislators around the country are pushing extreme laws that they claim defend women's health and improve the safety of abortion care. But these laws are wolves in sheep's clothing, advanced by politicians, not doctors, and based on legislation written by explicitly anti-abortion groups.

The Women's Health Protection Act would safeguard women's health care from the agendas of extremist politicians and their allies once and for all. Please co-sponsor this urgently needed legislation.

When a woman makes a decision to end a pregnancy, she needs access to safe, reliable care from a health provider she trusts, in or near the community she calls home.

But today, a woman's ability to access that care depends on the state where she happens to live. And in the past three years, state legislatures have passed more than 200 restrictions on abortion and women's reproductive health care, shutting down clinics, cutting off essential services, and harming women.

We shouldn't have to rely time after time on the judicial system to strike down these state-level restrictions as unconstitutional. Stronger legal protections -- like the Women's Health Protection Act -- are urgently needed.
