Tell Wyndham Hotel Group CEO providing new guidance re: treatment of homeless guests to his franchis

  • by: Edward Lee

As Nathan Empsall, the creator of the original Wyndham Hotel Group Care2 petition noted, "It is good that Wyndham Hotel Group is encouraging franchises to be compassionate, but that's not quite the same as an actual policy change. If the Wyndham Hotel Group wanted, it could certainly include homeless policies in its brand standards that franchises are required to follow, to close any loopholes and ensure those (homeless) prospective clients who are willing and able to pay, are not arbitrarily turned out, for example, when the temperature outside is below ten degrees.

Dear Mr. Ballotti

Further to your recently providing new guidance your company franchises and various brands concerning the treatment of (homeless) prospective clients, we would first like to genuinely applaud and thank you for taking this important first step.

With that being written, however, we, the undersigned on this petition, feel that merely providing new guidance leaves too much leeway for the same "tossing a prospective client out into nine degree weather" incident that cased one of my Care2 colleagues, Mr Nathan Empsall, to petition you, to occur once again, in the future.  We feel, if you truly wanted, and were in any way interested in being MORE proactive than you already are, you could certainly include homeless policies in its brand standards that franchises are required to follow.  That, at least, would undoubtedly be a step up from, let's say providing new guidance on preventing cigarettes, liquor, and/or pornography from being sold to minors.

We respectfully trust, in light of your already once taking action on this matter, following again, Mr. Nathan Empsall's Care2 petition, you will once more pursue this for the benefit of all those involved.  Thank you very much for taking the time to view and consider this letter and accompanying petition.

Sincerely yours,
