4,980 4:11 pm PDT, Apr 8 Aislynn Ribbe I never actually knew Professor Librescu, but I would always see him in the hallway after the class he taught and was killed in and before mine in Norris 211 at 10:10. He would always smile and nod his head at me, such a genuinely kind person, you could tell. He did an amazing thing, and although we mourn his loss we should celebrate his life and the incredible actions he took on the worst day I have ever experienced.

To start life fighting through one mad man's adversity and end it by protecting others from another mad man... almost no other man so well embudes the principles of selfless sacrifice this nation was founded upon.

4,957 8:11 pm PST, Dec 27 sachin shukla How often do you see a man giving his life in a selfless cause? how often do you see a senior citizen stand up to save young lives, despite their age? how often do we have heroes amongst us,but fail to recognize them? many a times.. if MR.Librescu doesnt receive this honor,no other human is worth it either. GOD BLESS.

Presidential Medal of Freedom for Professor Liviu Librescu

As the entire world knows of the tragedy on April 16, 2007 in Blacksburg, VA, we want the innocent victims to be remembered through the bravery of the American spirit represented by Professor Liviu Librescu.

On that tragic day, when faced with a killer on a rampage, Professor Librescu blocked the doorway of his classroom in Norris Hall at Virginia Tech, to protect his students.  His selfless actions saved many lives.  He is the true definition of a hero and the nation should remember that as his legacy.
