Protect Canada's threatened caribou and their boreal home

Canada's boreal woodland caribou are in trouble. Their habitat is disappearing, leaving them increasingly vulnerable to predators and climate change.

Scientists have listed these caribou as nationally threatened, and in some regions of the country herds are slowly disappearing. With careful planning and an eye for sustainable solutions, we can ensure that caribou have the space they need to survive.

Canada's Boreal forest contains some of the last large expanses of habitat – old growth forests and peatlands – important not only for woodland caribou, but other types of caribou as well.

Ask your provincial and federal governments to take immediate action to protect Canada's threatened woodland caribou and their remaining critical habitat as required by the Species at Risk Act.

Protecting caribou habitat benefits all Canadians by protecting the water we drink, improving the air we breathe, and mitigating climate change by maintaining the huge quantities of carbon stored in the Boreal. We have the opportunity and responsibility to maintain these forests for the caribou and for future generations.

Act now to protect the future of this threatened species and the boreal forest they call home.
