Climate change is not only affecting butterflies and polar bears, it's affecting humans, too. For people living in extreme poverty -- 60 percent of whom are women -- climate change presents a profound threat to their very survival.
Climate change is changing weather in dramatic ways. We are experiencing floods, droughts and cyclones with intensity and frequency never before recorded in human history.
What does this mean for the world's 1.4 billion people who subsist on a little more than a dollar a day? They are likely hungrier, sicker and poorer because of our changing climate. Families are losing their crops, homes and livelihoods.
Poor women and families are least responsible for causing climate change, yet they are suffering most from its effects. And, with the fewest resources to help them adapt to new conditions, they will pay the highest price. Indeed, they are already.
Heed President Obama's call for immediate action to help the world's poorest people by asking Congress to enact legislation now!
We took action on “The Human Face of Climate Change”!

We can do this and in the process become a world leader in alternative energy production, manufacturing, sales and expertise. Europe is already ahead of us on these issues and the sky has not fallen on them, they will most likely pull ahead of the rest of the world economically in the future because of these innovations which will lead them to energy independence relatively quickly.....let's become the alternative energy "Saudi Arabia" of the world here in the U.S. and at the same time heal the worlds climate. Let's get cap and trade legislation passed and free ourselves from oil dependency and catch up with the Europeans who already practice cap and trade. We can and should be leaders in green/clean energy. Cap and trade legislation and alternative energy innovation and development is not a burden to the U.S. but an opportunity that if we don't act upon soon will quickly pass us by to be taken up by the rest of the world while we continue with ancient and tired fear mongering debates by some of the extreme elements of the Republican Party in congress and the private sector that paint dark and absurd scenarios that will be caused by the terrifying and dreaded cap and trade legislation. Can you say...."hysterical fear." Let's use science and logic and stop trying to burn climate scientist at the stake.....most of the U.S. trade deficit is well known to be caused by the importation of foreign oil as well as most of the worlds air and ocean pollution...we can put an end to this double curse right now by passing cap and trade legislation. Write or e-mail your state legislators now and and talk to your friends and relatives......let them know how you feel. As long as we as a country continue to do more harm than good to the earth we will continue to fall further and further behind and our economy will be cursed, it doesn't have to be this way...as a country we can and will be blessed if we do what's right. Being part of healing the Earth's climate and the oceans is doing what's right, so let's do it and climb out of this pit of endless climate and energy debate and oil dependency. Don't let the far right con you into believing that the more oil we use and drill for the more God will love us....ha ha....that's a good one, but I'm not takin' the bait. Climate change is real and needs to be addressed NOW!...and, oh yeah, for you right wing opposers.....the Earth is not flat either!....I know it's hard to believe but the word out on the street is that it's round like a basketball.....hmmmm.

The Chrisian thing to do is to help in any way we can. I feel sorry for the poor people who have the lot in life to be born in an impoverished area of the world. Let's help!
