Don't Let ExxonMobil Dictate Global Warming Policies

Not all corporate scandal involves cooking the books --ExxonMobil is cooking the planet.Our planet is warming at an unprecedented rate as a result of the burning of fossil fuels such as oil, coal and gas, resulting in ecosystem destruction and serious human health impacts.
But oil and energy companies led by ExxonMobil have been fighting for the past decade to block government action on global warming and ensure our dependence on their dirty oil.
ExxonMobil has been able to dictate the U.S. global warming and energy policy by spending millions on:
- junk science to confuse the public and policy makers on whether global warming is a serious problem
- political contributions to elected officials who oppose government action on global warming, most notably President George W. Bush
- lobbying efforts both in Washington and at the United Nations to block government efforts to reduce global warming pollution
In return for these efforts, President Bush has pulled the U.S. out of the international treaty to address global warming, the Kyoto Protocol, broken campaign promises to regulate global warming pollution, and promoted an ExxonMobil-friendly energy plan that would dramatically increase U.S. pollution.
With our politicians unwilling to stand up to ExxonMobil, Greenpeace has decided to hold ExxonMobil accountable for its actions. With your help, we can bring about government action on global warming. To start, please send a letter to ExxonMobil CEO Lee Raymond.
