LGBT Youth Deserve Safe, Loving Homes Too

Across America, too many children and teens don't have a safe place to sleep at night. Among lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) youth, there is a crisis of homelessness. Recent studies show that 40% of the estimated 1.6 million homeless and runaway youth in the U.S. identify as LGBT.

Like far too many LGBT young people, Edgar was forced to leave his family’s home. His father refused to accept him and Edgar soon became afraid for his safety.

Alone on the streets, and without a supportive family to turn to, Edgar ended up in a Bronx shelter for adults – and he didn’t feel safe. It wasn't until he came to Covenant House that he found a place he could truly call home.
