Tell Congress to Help Halt the Growing Threat of Pancreatic Cancer

Pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related death in the U.S. – it will kill more people than breast cancer this year. Of the top five cancer killers, it has the lowest five-year survival rate at just 8 percent.

Pancreatic cancer is a devastating disease and it kills indiscriminately – it isn't limited by age, gender or race. There are no effective early detection methods, and when patients are diagnosed, they face limited treatment options.

It's time that we see significant advancements in pancreatic cancer research. To make that happen, the research community desperately needs increased federal funding in order to accelerate progress and improve patient outcomes.

Congress is on the hook to pass a final budget before the end of this year. To accelerate progress against pancreatic cancer and our nation's other deadliest, or recalcitrant, cancers, the final bill must ensure at least a $2 billion increase in funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). It must also include funding for the Cancer Moonshot Initiative.

Our leaders in Washington, D.C., have the power to save lives – but they must hear from all of us now so that they understand the urgency. Please act now, as we are rapidly closing in on the end of the year and our last chance to get the attention of Congress before 2017.

Now is the time to tell your elected officials that we are counting on them to Wage Hope and to help change the future of pancreatic cancer.

Sign the petition today and urge Congress to pass a final budget before the end of the year that includes at least a $2 billion increase in funding for the NIH in order to accelerate progress against pancreatic cancer and other deadly cancers.
