It has been FOUR months since Darius Dent followed through on a threat to kill Amanda Bell’s, Pit Bull Havoc, and 5 of her other pets and he still has not been arrested. Witnesses heard him threaten to the kill the animals and a neighbor witnessed him jump the fence to her house, leaving shortly before the fire started.  Amanda and her daughters lost their beloved pets, not to mention almost everything they owned! Dent still walks free while leaving Amanda wondering if he will come after her next. On July 5, 2012 Darius Dent, an acquaintance, was visiting at the home of Bell, when Havoc, her 10 month old Pit Bull, licked him on the ear, at which time he became angry and threatened to kill him and the rest of her animals! Not knowing if he was joking or not, she demanded that he leave immediately!

Shortly after the incident with Dent, Bell and her friends left the home for about 20 minutes to pick up dinner. Upon their return she was terrified to find smoke pouring out of her house! A neighbor identified the physical appearance, matching Dent, as the person who was lurking on the sidewalk in front of Bell’s house.  The witness saw the man wearing a neon green shirt, jump the fence, and then leave a few minutes later, just prior to the fire starting.

It is believed that Dent entered the home from a possible unlocked back door, gathered blankets and other flammable items, put them on the stove and turned on the gas!! Five of Bell’s animals, a six week old puppy, 2 cats, and 2 kittens that she rescued from a dumpster, were in crates in the kitchen and all perished in the fire. Havoc, who, was not crated, was found dead on Bell’s bed! Firefighters were able to gain control of the fire before it spread beyond the kitchen, so it’s  believed that Dent murdered Havoc before setting the fire. Dodger, a nine month old Pit Bull whose crate was not in the kitchen was the lone survivor!

Firefighters were on the scene within minutes, and were able to pull Havoc from the flames, but multiple attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. "I held Havoc for four hours after they brought him out," Bell said. "I kept begging them to try and give him CPR again. He was still a baby. Police told Bell that they are asking Dent to turn himself in for questioning and if he doesn’t, that a warrant would be issued. If a warrant were issued it would be for felony arson, but could carry with it animal cruelty charges, as well. Officials said a murder charge is reserved for a case involving human victims, while this case of potential double canicide and felicide would still be characterized in court as animal cruelty.

As of today, November 9, 2012, Darius Dent has not been arrested or charged for the arson that killed SIX of Bell’s beloved pets. WE DEMAND JUSTICE FOR THE FAMILY, HAVOC, AND THE OTHER 5 ANIMALS THAT WERE TARGETED AND MURDERED BY DARIUS DENT!
