Bring Back the Camaro and Firebird!!

The Camaro and Firebird were unjustly taken from us, and it's time to get them back!
PEOPLE OF AMERICA!! The time has come to stand up for what you believe in! Make your opinion known!

Okay, off the soapbox; time to get serious. My name is Joshua White. I’m eighteen years old, and I’m posting this petition because I’m tired of sitting idly by while bigheads and bureaucrats destroy the legacies of this great country.
As most of you may know, GM North America chairman Robert Lutz called for an end to the production of two of General Motors’ oldest and longest-running models, the Chevrolet Camaro and the Pontiac Firebird. Sadly, GM agreed, and as of 2003, the Camaro and Firebird were no more. And the reason Lutz gave for this action? Apparently, they weren’t making enough money off of sales, and he felt that there wasn’t enough demand for a mid-size sports car.

Okay …and the Mustang is …?

I also discovered a crucial detail as I studied on this. What else do the Camaro and Firebird have in common? They’re both rear-wheel-drive!! Am I the only one who’s putting two and two together here? America’s automotive heritage is in the driveshaft! Listen, people, the first car was NOT front-wheel-drive. That technology didn’t come along until 1931. And get this: now that the Camaro is gone, the only rear-drive Chevy car that’s left (not counting trucks, SUV’s, and vans) is the Corvette, and without the Firebird, all that Pontiac has is the new GTO. Now, I’ve heard some complain that the new Goat is too bland. I admit that it’s no Firebird substitute, but hey, I’ll take rear-wheel-drive wherever I can get it. That’s why (shameless plug coming up) I’m starting my Crown Vic Project on CarDomain.com.

Now a word directly addressed to Mr. Lutz. With all due respect, sir, how dare you. For thirty-five years, the Camaro and Firebird have been a staple in American automotive culture. These two classics have gained the respect and admiration of millions the world over, and to have them taken away like this is absolutely disgusting, demeaning, and deplorable on your part. You are shattering America’s rear-wheel-drive roots. As I see it, the situation is like this. Year after year, our cars are raped by the Japanese in quality, sales, and in comparison tests; the Germans (i.e. Benz, BMW, Porsche) don’t even believe in front-wheel-drive; and you have the absolute balls to annihilate two of the most historical and legendary names in the GM lineup, all for your precious profit margins? I humbly ask you, sir: what have you been smoking? Whatever happened to satisfying the customer at all costs? Apparently some things are more important.

Again, I appeal to the American people. I feel that I must fight this great injustice, but I cannot do it alone, which is why I need your help. I beg you to sign your name to this petition and help me restore the Chevrolet Camaro and the Pontiac Firebird to production. With the Grace of God and enough signatures, Robert Lutz will read the same words that you have read just now. Also, if you’re interested, I strongly suggest that you go to my CarDomain page and look at my own sketches of what some reborn models of the Camaro and Firebird may look like. The address is . Keep in mind, though, that they are only ideas. Even if you don’t like any of them, you can still sign the petition.

I deeply appreciate your time and consideration in this matter, and I sincerely hope for your support. May God’s Will be done.

Sincerely,
Joshua White
