Help Unleash a New Energy Future Today

Target: U.S. Congress
Sponsored by: Environmental Defense Fund
A clean energy future awaits us.

From flying windmills to hydrocarbon fuels derived from fermented sugar, countless innovations exist that can fight global warming, grow our economy and increase our energy independence.

But we need the right national energy policies to make all of this happen.

Watch the video about one of these amazing new technologies, and then urge your legislators to propel us into this new energy future today.

Dear Decision-maker,

Clean energy technologies exist today that can help us solve climate change, grow the economy and increase our energy independence.

With the right policies, we can do all of these things. To stay competitive in the 21st Century, we must unleash the clean energy future.

It is up to leaders like you to do your part and support effective state and national energy policies. You must give energy innovators the political green light they need to advance and finance their work.

I urge you to support a national economy-wide cap on global warming pollution to unleash the clean energy innovators.

Our future depends on it.

It is time to get away from big oil!! We already know that it's bad for our environment to continue to burn fossil fuels, so why won't our government approve and embrace new energy???

The United States of America has always been known to have the most brilliant innovators and to, indeed, lead the world with new inventions and methods of production. We have to direct our efforts into developing NEW ENERGY SOURCES to substitute oil in our economy. In developing new energy sources we are not only helping our own economy but those of the world around us. I am sure that if we can put a man on the moon and cure cancer we can andoubtedly find at least one practical and fiscally attractive ALTERNATE SOURCE OF ENERGY. Conchita Muller

People balk at having to totally change their ways. We need to support those that are working to save the world without taking away American independence.

This issue is critical to act upon if we want to stop using oil as our main source of energy. What about creating methane from all the animal farms that are run for meat consumption? Or what about all the dumps that are filling up...why can't they be re-cycled into energy? There are countless methods that are out there, and our government should promote these and stop getting in the way. If Obama becomes president, I know he will support this cause as a priority.

Humans do not have the right to permanently dominate and abuse the homes of so many living creatures and wildlife habitats: Earth. The health of the planet affects everyone on it, especially our children. Big mining companies should not be giving profits the upper priority rather than protecting the air a child or living creature breaths. When an an animal is suffering from the degradation of the environment such as the drowning of polar bears in the arctic, it is a big sign that people will also be endangered. The effects of global warming can become irreversible and recovery will be impossible, if the damages are actuality. The time to convert and find cleaner sources of energy is long overdue. Wind, water, and solar are reusable for a reason, and if America does not find an alternative energy source from petroleum, we will forever grow more dependent on this limiting resource every day.

If we were not dependent on foreign oil for energy, we could use our time and resources for the many needs we have here in our own country.
