Dear House Republican Leader John Boehner,
As a concerned U.S. citizen, I am writing you to voice my concern at the recent Supreme Court ruling overturning restrictions on political spending by corporations.
[Your comment will be inserted here]
Before this ruling was passed, special-interest groups already swayed elections through lobbying, soft money and direct contributions. But this new ruling takes political endorsements to a new level, and come midterm elections in November, we can expect even more campaign ads from any corporation with millions to spend on behalf of a candidate.
Congress belongs to the American people, not to fortune 500 companies. You recently called the new ruling, "a big win for the First Amendment, and a step in the right direction." But in reality, this new ruling threatens to undermine the integrity of our elected institutions -- something that both political parties cannot afford to have happen.
Now is the time to push back this ruling and let the American people take control of elections -- not moneyed corporations. Thank you for all your hard work and I eagerly await your response.
