Give us somewhere to smoke in peace.

Let's make a resolution for BOTH sides, and present it to the next President of the United States of America with all of your signatures!!

This petition to the Federal Government requests we encourage states to assign a portion of tobacco tax towards the designation of a closed-off, ventilated room for smokers in public facilities and private facilities that CHOOSE to do so, to benefit both smokers and nonsmokers.

Instead of banning smoking and sending our tobacco taxes to other people's health care that are concerned about second-hand smoke, we could be easily nipping this in the bud by creating the successful ventilation regulations that many areas have adapted.

I Supported Smokers and Nonsmokers Rights

Smokers pay over $16 billion dollars per year in state taxes on tobacco products.  It is only right that a portion of our own tax money go towards the designation of a closed-off, ventilated room for smokers in public facilities (and those private facilities that choose to do so).  For too long, people who choose to engage in a legal product have allowed their rights to be disregarded.  With the amount of money the government is making off of smokers, it is time we had a say.

This petition has a very high goal:  50,000 signatures.  There is absolutely no way that Congress can ignore a petition of this breadth.  Over 20% of adults are smokers, and there are 300 million people in America.  I think we can round up 50,000 signatures!

This is a petition that not only smokers should sign.  Non-smokers, if they value civil liberties, should also be for smokers having their own place to go.  If a Federal Law were passed to enforce this, nonsmokers would no longer have to walk past clouds of smoke on their way out the door, nor would they have to see cigarette butts littered outside of public places.

Please sign our petition, and visit us at http://www.connietalk.com/smokerspetition.html to get the HTML code to paste in MySpace bulletins to help spread the word!!
