Request the Council to look at the traffic light sequencing at Blackbrook Road (A58) & Ashurst Drive Junction

For St Helens Council to look at the traffic light sequencing and delay times between one set of lights turning red to another set turning green.

We would also urge the council to look at the inclusion of traffic light cameras to be installed as a deterrent for the below stated reasons.

Due to Ashurst Drive being the only entrance and exit off the Blackbrook Estate the inevitable increase of vehicles has occurred. Over the past few months numerous 'near misses' have happened due to poor timings which can leave vehicles turning right into the estate stationary for extended periods over the stop line road markings.

There is a filter light on the traffic lights, but does not always light up hence, The inter-green appears to be is too short which means traffic from the previous stage is still clearing the junction when the next stage starts, meaning the traffic paths cross and it leads to frustration from motorists from both directions. This problem is exacerbated by drivers continuing straight on Blackbrook road jumping the red lights.

The view for the traffic leaving the estate (on Ashurst Drive)is partially obscured due a high concrete fence panel, and with the traffic turning into the estate running through the red light to clear the road, it creates a serious cross in traffic. There are fears from the community that a very serious accident could happen if something isn't done soon.
