This petition might seem trite to those who are not well informed about the pet store/puppy mill connection but for the thousands of people who saw the photos taken last Sunday, July 15, 2012, of actress Katie Holmes and her daughter Suri visiting a NY pet store, animal advocates across the country in unison thought - No Katie, please don't buy! Rescue one of the 5-6 million healthy, lovable pets currenty sitting on death row in our shelters instead!
The good news is Katie did not buy a puppy and her daughter left the store crying and making quite a scene. But what we don't know is WHY Katie did not buy the puppy. Does she know about abusive puppy mills? Is she a woman who would only adopt a pet, like fellow actors George Clooney, Ryan Gossling and Jennifer Aniston have? We don't know therefore...
This petition is our preemptive strike! We want to reach her BEFORE she makes a huge mistake. We believe she is a good person who might just need a little education on the subject and if she knows how much her fans care about this issue, she might make the right choice for her daughter, herself, a special rescue dog and maybe even for us!
Please sign if you agree (add a little note of your own to Katie) and when we have gathered enough signatures we will present the petition to her through her agent.
