Stop Predators From Sexually Abusing Children

Children being sexually abused is not just an issue in the USA but globally. These crimes scar our children emotionally, physically, and mentally. The people of our country have to get involved and make their voice count in order for change to take place. Remember we voted our politicians in office and we can vote them out. Some of our political figures do not want to strenghthen our sex crime laws so that tells me that they are for it and not against it. Our children should not have to go through this alone, they do have a voice and we should open up our hearts and hear their cry. We are their advocates and our sentencing laws have to change. Our children should not have to pay the price for an adults pleasure. We are fighting to change these laws one state at a time.
It Begins With You!One Voice Can Not Stand Alone But Many Voices Can Make A Multitude Of Changes.I am writing to you about a growing problem throughout our state and country, sexually abused children. The sentencing laws of North Carolina do not justify these horrendous crimes. Did you know that Indecent Liberties with a Student only carries 3 months – 12 months and Indecent Liberties with a Minor only carries 10 months – 4 years? These are only just a few laws that need to be changed.I’d like to tell you a story and hope that the citizens of this country will view things in a different prospective after I’m finished. I know a child that is a victim of child molestation. Now this child is an average student, plays sports, active in church and family oriented. Then you have the perpetrator who works within a school system and has a small business on the side. He is a family man that is well established in the community. He is active in church and what you would believe to be a good role model. One day the perpetrator approaches you and asks if your child would like a part-time job on the weekends. So you think that a part-time job would give your child extra pocket money and a sense of responsibility to know what the work force is about. Little did you know that the business was just a front to deceive parents and lure children? A couple of months pass and you start noticing changes in your child such as, withdrawal from family, sports, church and school. You wonder if it is peer pressure or if it’s hormonal or if drugs are involved. One day you realize that the relationship between your child and the so called role model is unhealthy and even somewhat possessive. You ask this person not to be around your child under any circumstances. The pedophile continues to sneak and see your child. So after many lectures and prayers you decide to commit your child. While your child is in the hospital you go talk to a detective. Although you have no evidence that your child is being sexually abused or that the perpetrator is supplying drugs to your child something inside of you says there is more here than meets the eye. The detective asks you to bring your child in for an interview the day he/she is released from the hospital. The day of release you take your child for the interview. You wait and wait which seems like an eternity and when they come out you find that all your fears are true and more. Your heart feels like it has been torn into a million pieces. You ask yourself what my child is going through emotionally will this cause he/she to be self destructive. You wonder will he/she grow up and do the same acts to another child. Then you start blaming yourself why didn’t I see this sooner, why didn’t I stop it, why did I let it start? You go home and you can’t sleep so you pray to Christ and ask Him what do you want me to do? A few days pass and you receive your answer He wants you to fight for the protection of children. You work side by side with the detectives that are assigned to this case. Countless hours are spent only to uncover a multitude of crimes and sins. You find out that the pedophile befriends the young teens by taking them swimming and shopping. He tells them that he understands how parents are and that he remembers what it was like. He proceeds to start buying alcohol for them then they think that he is so cool. A little time passes and he starts giving them prescription pills. The teens become addicted to Xanax’s and Hydrocodones. A little more time passes and then the sex abuse starts. Then he has them exactly where he wants them then they start stealing for him for drugs. The detectives find out that the perp. has been taping the sex acts with another adult involved. So now it’s sex, drugs, and child pornography. The perp. works for the school system that your child attends so when the child does not come to school the perp. becomes suspicious. Then he starts destroying evidence beginning with the tapes. The school system suspends the perp. but the perp. has had several transfers within the same district. No one yet has answered why this man had so many transfers.Come to find out that one law enforcement agency already had allegations against the same man but they were never investigated. You tried e-mailing attorneys about a liability suit but no one will take the case because school systems are not held liable for their staff’s actions. It is also normal for law enforcement not to investigate sexual allegations immediately because the case loads are overwhelming and cases have to be prioritized. So who is responsible for our children at school? Who is responsible for the staff that they hire? When are cases investigated maybe 6 months down the road? In the mean time these people are allowed to continue abusing children. Should pedophiles receive a pat on the hand only to come out and continue committing the same crimes and corrupting children’s lives.I am asking you to help change these laws. Don’t turn your back or close your eyes to this issue. Don’t let your child, grandchild, niece or nephew become a victim. Our children are the future but what future can they have if we allow crimes of this nature to go unnoticed or forgotten. One voice can not stand alone but many voices can make a multitude of changes.
