611 10:27 am PST, Nov 3 Anonymous St. Petersburg United States Too many love scenes, there is no end but when these scenes involve same sex I'm appaled. ALL MY CHILDREN has now sunk I think as low as they can go,not only are gays having relationships, but are showing two women in seductive scenes. Call me homophobic I don't want to see love scenes with two women or two men.
610 7:26 pm PDT, Oct 29 G L Okc United States In addition to all the immoral content, the constant rapid changing camera angles and camera views on just about every show these days makes a person sea-sick if you try and watch it. Even on quote unquote 'family' shows.
609 3:51 pm PDT, Oct 8 Cheryl Hebert Springtown United States I have 8 grandchildren whose programs on tv have to be thoroughly screened. I mean, even some of the cartoons are xrated!! Then we wonder why the youth of today are corrupt!!! The Lord says there will be consequences to pay to the immorals of this world. Don't think that the money being made on this filth is going to save your hide, it won't!!! Read the Bible, please..this message is for all whom are responsible.
608 3:04 pm PDT, Oct 8 Anonymous Quebec Canada Word!
607 1:08 pm PDT, Oct 8 David Phipps Fort Worth United States Television that depends on shock or arousal value for its entertainment is counterproductive and immoral. There is a very definite correlation between the decline of our society and the introduction of loose morals in our entertainment.
606 12:19 pm PDT, Oct 8 Michelle Jennings Arcadia United States I am offended every time I watch regular tv that I have to view mostly naked and vulger images of women. If people want to pay for it with HBO, Cinimax or whatever fine. But to have this stuff on mainstream cable stations is ridiculous. I have limited basic, less than stations than the classic basic and still have to monitor this content. Girls next door or spike tv is demeaning to women as a whole and inappropriate to have on these stations where my child can flip through and see these images. Do something about this and bring some morals and respect back into this country for Gods sake!!!
605 7:26 pm PDT, Oct 5 Anonymous Maple Valley United States Do these people care that kids are watching!! I'm real close to cancelling the cable. It's pretty bad when I have to be ready with the stinking remote at commercial time. Sunday Night Football on NBC isn't even safe. Saw new show about so and so making a porno and reference to s and m during another commercial. All between those assanine ed ads...sick of it in seattle. Ready to unplug!!
604 8:30 pm PDT, Sep 15 Anonymous Surprise United States There is no need for the younger audience to be exposed to vulgarity at such a young age. In order to assure that the younger generation will be a respectable and respectful peoples, we need to teach them how to be good citizens and represent others.
603 5:52 pm PDT, Sep 10 Debbie Mills Lenore United States I care about what our families, and ourselves see when we turn on our tv's. We can not search thru the channels for a movie to watch without coming across, vulgar language, partial nudity to almost complete nudity, sexual situations and violence. Children should be able to sit down with family to watch a movie which we think will be decent and turns out most of the time it's not suitable for them or adults to sit and enjoy. I hope everyone that cares about this issue and what our families are exposed to will be glad to sign this petition and email it on to as many friends as possible. Thank You!
602 7:23 am PDT, Aug 25 James Waring Stamford United States I'm tired of navigating what has literally become a minefield of questionable content in cable television. It's time to take action.

595 6:39 am PDT, Apr 8 Jenna Bergen Hamilton United States
594 5:51 pm PDT, Apr 2 D. Cox Caddo United States Advertisers are buying these programs to sell their goods. Aim at the pocketbook. Same with objectionable commercials. Nothing says 'no' more than no sales. Ten years ago what is on television today would have been considered pornographic and illegal. Has the definition of pornography changed? I have been totally amazed at how a cute program like My Name is Earl was changed from a clever comedy to crude and tasteless. Forensic programs have gone from interesting to shocking gore of bodies etc. Are we a nation of 'Jaywalkers'?
593 6:00 pm PDT, Mar 10 Anonymous Cary United States
592 11:11 am PST, Feb 21 Cathy Banks Columbia United States I am tired of the language being used and the fact that most of the new shows have some sort of lesbian or gay relationship.

589 6:35 pm PST, Jan 28 Lena Cheatham Little Rock United States I am so glad that I found this outlet, and others that believe as I do! I firmly believe that what take in from television, and other media affects people more than they are aware of. I refuse to watch television, and lets not forget that pornography is becoming more mainstream even in what is being produced on the radio. What are we teaching our young boys and girls? It is absolutely ridiculous that it has gone this far.
588 12:06 pm PST, Jan 23 Tracey Copes Williamsville United States I am completely repulsed by much of what is shown on television, not only the programming, but the ads have become very sexualized as well. I am really disgusted by the constant barrage of ED ads, Girls Gone Wild, text for sexy pics etc, etc. We are witnessing the fall of Rome all over again!

578 1:32 pm PDT, Oct 23 Ronald D Murphy Columbus United States I'm tired of commercials and programs supposed to be showed during the family hour are getting more and more vulgar. Showing sexual innuendos, vulgar language and plain filth is not my way of spending time with my grandchildren in what is advertised as the family hour.
577 8:28 pm PDT, Oct 19 Anonymous Aurora United States I would like to support this effort. I write letters on my own and file FCC complaints regularly trying to fight this problem.
576 12:02 pm PDT, Oct 12 Sandra Kosmalski Kerrville United States They say we have control over what we watch, which is very little these days, but the commercials are deplorable, too, and pop up on all the channels. Who can protect children, or myself for that matter from that kind of filth! If this is what the majority rule wants in this country we are a very sick bunch.
575 5:07 am PDT, Oct 9 Sandra Streib San Antonio United States I am tired of watching half naked woman on every channel, I thought the womens movement was to elevate women in society. What I see on tv is NOT uplifting to the image of women. I don't think I or my husband should be subjected to such vulgarity in our own home. We used to enjoy television in the evenings, but now it's just soft porn everywhere you look. Don't parents worry about what these images impress upon their children? We have pretty much stopped watching tv altogether! It's bad enough just going to the grocery store! GET SOME CLOTHES ON WOMEN!
574 7:32 am PDT, Oct 2 Gerry Carter San Antonio United States
573 5:33 pm PDT, Oct 1 Robert Kellner Waukesha United States On Sun. the PBS series "THE WAR' aired the f-word several times. As if this wasn't enough it was at 7pm. Children could have easily been near and heard this. I urge everyone to write the FCC, and PBS to complain. I am also sick and tired of hearing all the Viagra, and Cialis, commercials at the dinner hour, and I am considering having my cable taken out.
572 10:03 am PDT, Sep 26 Debbie Willis Griffin United States I am tired of sex and profanity being blasted at me during some otherwise good entertainmen.

568 8:26 am PDT, Aug 27 Daryl Morris Birmz United Kingdom
567 7:47 pm PDT, Aug 22 Anonymous Greenbrier United States I urge all people who have children of any ages, and also those who just want less inappropriate trash on TV to call their local station managers, e mail sponsors, send letters to the editor of your local newspaper, and turn off the programs that air degrading, salacious, content in both commercials and scheduled programming. Believe me, one person CAN make a difference. A couple of years ago, I e mailed a letter to the editor of our most widely read newspaper pointing out how inappropriately dressed the spokeswoman for a local chain of furniture stores appeared in all of their commercials. I urged all parents who agreed that these commercials were unfit to be aired during primetime. Almost immediately, this advertiser's spokeswoman began appearing in business suits instead of braless in a tube top. I'm not ultra conservative--just tired of how ridiculously and gratuitously over-sexed our mainstream programming has become. If you JUST SAY NO, and say it loudly, others will chime in, and station managers will listen.
566 11:31 pm PDT, Aug 18 Olivia Geri East Vineland United States T.V is far too much influential, and because it is there should be more decency than undecent images and shows and language. Too much sex, vulgar language, racist movies and shows should not be aloud. And these movies that show torture and murder, oh my God they should not be made at ALL.
565 7:00 pm PDT, Aug 11 Anonymous schaumburg United States tv has a big influnce on are morals and with bad morals we have lost all respect for others and are selves.

563 8:52 am PDT, Aug 3 Kristina Lane Clinton United States
562 12:04 pm PDT, Jul 24 Anonymous Hammond United States I'm a parent who cares what my children watch, don't watch, and shouldn't watch on television.
561 10:27 pm PDT, Jul 18 Terry Sanders somerset United States I think it is getting way out of control and needs to be self regulated. It is just saturating the channel lineup.
560 2:32 am PDT, Jul 15 Sabrina Jennings-Telles Los Lunas United States
559 5:52 pm PDT, Jul 11 gabriella hill NW United States I think television is going down the drain and we need to change that.
558 1:13 pm PDT, Jul 11 Anonymous Merrillville United States I'm sining because i hate the way that tv is turning out i think its rong
557 9:08 am PDT, Jul 8 Patricia Heath Hammond United States These ads run because no one complains about them. The freedom of speech also means we have the freedom to demand that suggestive, immoral and vulgar ads and programs be denied air time. This includes the new trend of male enhancement "drugs" that pop up on any program you might be watching, even family friendly programs and educational programs such as on A&E and the History channels.
556 10:09 am PDT, Jun 16 Becky Husband Zavalla United States I am a Christian
555 8:17 am PDT, Jun 13 Evelyn Mayberry Port Orford United States
554 8:14 am PDT, Jun 13 Elbert Mullins Bethany United States i am concerned about the desensitizing of my child and myself. times have changed and not for the better as far as t.v. is concerned
553 8:38 am PDT, Jun 7 Matt Johnson Elberton United States There is to much violent content on during prime time and during day time for children to watch.
552 10:18 am PDT, May 29 Allan Stak Fairway United States Maybe I haven't been paying enough attention, but yesterday (May 28, 2007) I was channel surfing in the late afternoon. First, I began watching The Sopranos on A&E and then I flipped to A Soldier Story on AMC. I am not ultra conservative, but in this case I was appalled at the language that is now allowed on BASIC CABLE. I know I heard ass*****, sh** and bull****. If I am not mistaken, I heard the f word while watching A Soldier's Story (Maybe I wrong. They may have cut it short.) Neverthless, I was surprised and shocked. I am a 55-year-old male with 19- and 17-year-old daughters. I realize they are just outside of "the danger zone," but I just don't feel those words should be used on Basic Cable stations. If someone wants to pay extra for premium channels, that is their choice. However, A&E and AMC are networks that are a part of my Basic Cable package. I sincerely believe that those networks should play by the same rules as over-the-air networks and stations. These days the majority of American either have basic cable or satellite packages. That is the norm, not the exception. Shouldn't we maintain some line of decency on television/basic cable? Or am I alone on this issue and really out of touch with what is now acceptable these days? I am asking you to take this issue seriously. I don't think we should allow four-letter words to be used on non-premium cable networks. Let's draw a line. Sincerely, Allan Stark

Restore Decency to Television!

Dear Senator Lott,

I am very concerned about the types of commercials and tv shows that are being shown today. Shows like Howard Stern, as well as some of the reality game shows. Many kids are being exposed to violent rap and heavy metal lyrics on MTV and other music stations. Many commercials are getting more and more indecent, showing people halfway nude, etc, during shows KIDS WATCH!!! Is it any wonder why kids today are violent, disrespect their parents, and are promiscuous? I urge you and your fellow Senators to require the FCC to set and enforce decency standards for TV. Only then can we protect kids.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
