Arrested and Tortured for Being Gay: Help Free Marwan

Marwan, a 22-year-old student in Tunisia, was arrested because of text messages he sent to other men. Even worse, police performed a horrific medical exam to ‘prove’ that he was gay.

Marwan was let out on bail to take his school exams, but will be back in court on December 10th. He’s already been sentenced to jail for a year.

The government wants the world to think Tunisia is making progress on human rights after the Arab Spring. But it’s still illegal to be gay in Tunisia. If we make a big enough outcry, Tunisian officials will have no choice but to give in to the global pressure and free Marwan at his next appeal.

Being gay should not be a crime, and no one should have to undergo humiliating medical procedures because of who they are. Sign the petition urging Tunisian officials to drop the case against Marwan.
