According to the Windsor Star article "Fired Windsor cop goes back on payroll while she appeals dismissal," Constable Dorothy Nesbeth is back on paid suspension for filing an appeal for her guilty charges for failing to declare alcohol at the border.
I have heard of other officers that have been charged for misconduct and have been paid for being suspended according to Metro newspaper ("Windsor petition calls for an end to suspended pay for cops") such as Constable David Bshouty as well as Warren Braganza.
In fact, I believe that police officers should be suspended without pay since taxpayers cannot afford the large scale of pay to be paid out to police officers while on suspension. Also, the justice system needs to be reformed to hold all officers and civilian representatives of the police force to be held accountable for their own actions. I am going to re-launch another petition (Mirza Baig launched a petition in April 2014) urging the Ontario government to do the right thing and ensure that they take a look at amending the Police Services Act by including a clause that all officers must be suspended without pay for any criminal charges. Furthermore, under a letter written by Scott Goldstein in the Windsor Star "Fair is fair, no?", I also believe that officers Bridgeman, Synder, Kettlewell, and Braganza have all been able to keep their jobs and I think they should be fired as well for their misconduct while employed by the Windsor Police Service. Also, there needs to be immidate termination of police officers and civilian employees who engage in serious misconduct.
If you believe in stopping the two tiers of Justice in Ontario, please sign this petition here.
